Dental crowns & bridges Wellington: restore your smile
Dental crowns and bridges are two of the most reliable and time-tested solutions for restoring teeth that have been damaged, weakened, or lost. We place porcelain, zirconia and composite restorations routinely.
When is a crown recommended?
A dental crown is a custom-made cap that fits over a damaged or weakened tooth, restoring its shape, strength, and appearance. Crowns are recommended:
- When a tooth has extensive decay that cannot be reliably restored with a filling
- When a tooth has fractured or broken
- To support a large filling where insufficient natural tooth structure remains
- To cover a discoloured or misshapen tooth
- To anchor a dental bridge
An implant is the alternative to a bridge
A bridge uses the teeth on either side of the gap as anchors. If you would rather not alter those healthy teeth, dental implants stand on their own and preserve the jawbone beneath, worth comparing before you decide.
Frequently asked questions
What crown materials do you offer?
Porcelain and zirconia crowns provide the most natural-looking result and are our most popular choice for visible teeth. Composite crowns are a more cost-effective alternative. They cost just over a third of the price of conventional porcelain or zirconia crowns, are metal-free, and can be precisely shade-matched to your natural teeth.
What does a dental bridge do?
A bridge bridges the gap left by one or more missing teeth, using the teeth on either side as anchors. It restores your smile's appearance, helps maintain your facial structure, improves speech and chewing function, and prevents neighbouring teeth from drifting into the gap.
How many appointments does a bridge take?
Typically two. At the first visit your dentist prepares the anchor teeth, takes a digital impression and places a temporary bridge. At the second, the permanent bridge is fitted, checked for comfort and function, and cemented into place.
